The Hurt Locker

Directed by Kathryn Bigelow

A difficult subject to tackle, Hollywood has been unsuccessful for year in producing an enticing or even interesting film on the Iraq war. Step up Kathryn Bigelow, a women who understands the minds of men better than most men do and an accomplished action/story director, and you’ve got an instant classic and Bigelow’s masterpiece.

The Hurt Locker brings new depth to a new depth to a conflict largely uncovered by mainstream Hollywood, bringing superb acting, stunning visuals and heart pounding action scenes together in a whirlwind mesh of gut-wrenching realism. What the action scenes lack in spectacle they make up for in pure tension, this being perhaps the most literally tense film of the year and certainly out of those that i’ve ever seen.

If you get a chance to see this film on the big screen, do. Otherwise, make it a priority to get this out on blu-ray as this masterpiece film deserves to be seen in the best quality possible.
